| II. Mix & Bake |
This is the challenging part, but also where all the fun occurs! During this part, students (and maybe you) will struggle with the new skill(s) or content being taught. To help them, we’ll mix multiple Cooking Tools (Methods) and Ingredients (Content/Supplies) to bake the new learning inside their heads! More details about Cooking Tools and Ingredients will be elaborated in the Recipes section.
Focusing on complex texts is the most important aspect of this step.
Take a fiction or nonfiction text that’s challenging and relevant for your students and consider the different ways it can be prepared. You can annotate in it! You can write about it! You can compose relevant questions about it! You can present it! Tear in to the content and understand it from all points of view to reach mastery!
